Winy Maas is a renowned Dutch architect, educator, and urbanist, born on January 17, 1959, in Schijndel, Netherlands. Co-founder of the globally acclaimed architecture and urban planning firm MVRDV, established in 1993 alongside Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries, Maas is celebrated for his innovative approach to architecture and urban design. His work is characterized by experimental design, a commitment to sustainability, and a visionary approach to tackling contemporary urban challenges. Maas has contributed to the field with iconic projects like the Rotterdam Market Hall and the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. He is also a dedicated educator, imparting knowledge and inspiring future generations as a professor at Delft University of Technology and as a visiting lecturer at various prestigious institutions worldwide. Maas’s influence extends beyond architecture into broader discussions on urban development and the future of cities.
