💭 Philosophical Table: LUXURIA – On Luxury and Responsibility in Architecture 🏛💎
Architecture often shows off power, wealth, and status. From grand buildings to exclusive spaces, it can feel like architects mostly build for the rich—while social needs are overlooked. But should that be the role of architecture?
This session, we’ll talk about Luxuria—the idea of luxury and excess—and how it relates to what we design and who we design for. Inspired by the story of Jesus and the expensive perfume (John 12), we’ll ask: when is beauty meaningful, and when does it ignore what really matters?
✨ Can architecture be both beautiful and fair? How should we deal with the inequality, corruption, and priorities in our field?
Let’s reflect and discuss together.
