Marieke Kums is a distinguished Dutch architect and the founder of Studio Maks, an internationally recognized architecture and urban design practice based in Rotterdam. Known for her refined approach to design, Kums seamlessly blends architecture, landscape, and urbanism, creating projects that are both contextually sensitive and innovative. With experience at renowned firms like OMA before establishing her own practice, she has made a name for herself through projects that emphasize materiality, spatial quality, and sustainability. Her work ranges from intimate architectural details to large-scale urban visions, aligning perfectly with the theme of her lecture: From Detail to City. Beyond her architectural practice, Kums contributes to academia, sharing her expertise as a guest lecturer at various institutions worldwide.
