12h Design Challenge – Redeveloping a station

The municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch has announced ambitious plans for the redevelopment of the station area. To meet future demand, the existing station must be expanded, as Den Bosch is set to become an increasingly important mobility hub within the Netherlands.

The 12h Challenge offers students a unique opportunity to contribute to the design of this future station area. Over the course of just 12 hours, participants will develop an integral plan, ranging from large-scale strategies and visions to urban design and building-scale proposals.

Throughout the challenge, experts from across the field will give presentations and provide feedback, supporting students in refining their ideas. By the end of the 12 hours, each group will have produced a detailed, multi-scalar scenario. The projects will be presented to a jury, who will offer professional feedback on the work.

The results will be exhibited at the municipality and may be used in later phases of the development, giving students the rare chance to influence a real and highly relevant urban project.
